How do I choose a good coach or healer for myself?
If you’ve done healing work before, you may already know the qualities you want, or don’t want, in a practitioner.
If it’s your first time exploring healing or coaching, here are a few ideas: Are you sensitive, and prefer others who can more readily notice how you’re feeling, even when it’s difficult to put words to everything inside? Do you prefer a caring and present listener, but want to be challenged to stretch and grow?
It’s a good idea to think of a few relevant questions you want to ask your potential coach or healer.
When searching for my own healing practitioner, one question I found relevant was, “How important do you think it is for a healer or coach to have done their own healing work, and why?”
I believe it is. I can confidently share that I’ve healed from past experiences and have been in therapy and worked with spiritual practitioners a few times in my life. Some of these experiences shaped how I see the process today, both as a practitioner and as a client.
I’m happy to share with you what I’ve learned.
Trust yourself, and make certain you’re getting the best care, and fit, in the somatic and / or spiritual healer you choose.
What’s it like to engage in Mind-Body-Spirit healing with you?
Many people tell me I have a calming presence.
I listen deeply and pay attention to subtle details, because they’re interesting and provide important information. I know you’re a lot more than the issues that bring you in to see me.
I always look for the best in people. We build on strengths, while having compassion for the parts that need healing together. And laughter can be great medicine too!
Will I have to lie on the couch?
That’s completely up to you!
My office is set up like a living room with comfortable chairs, loveseat and a cozy rug. There are large windows and a lot of natural light. I like the idea of bringing elements of the natural world into a living space. I had an image of a certain place in mind when I designed my space. Maybe you can guess where?
What kind of tissues do you use?
The lotion kind. Life is hard enough – you should have a soft tissue. 😉
If you have another preference, I’ll try to accommodate!
Dogs or cats?
Both! Although cats smell a lot better. Indoor ones anyway. 😉
